My Story

In 1997, a very close, friend of mine called Nello Ghezzo, cycled to Venice from Exeter to raise money for a Cancer charity. No one knew at the time he too was affected and after a year long battle he passed. He was a wonderful man. This event spawned a fundraising ride in his memory in 1999 which has now become The Nello. I have lived in New Zealand since 2001 and been back three times to complete this ride, the last time in 2019, this year is the 25th anniversary and I will go back once more for this final time as the legs get older. Nello meant a lot to me in very many ways and his legacy to me includes personal memories and skills in the kitchen.

Thanks to EVO cycles, I am taking the bike I did the very first Nello on back in 1999, they have done a great restoration job on my Peter Tansley frameset, made for me back in 1987.
